2022 International Juried Art Exhibit

The Frederic Remington Art Museum’s 2022 International Juried Art Exhibition opened on Friday, September 16, 2022, and is on view in the Museum’s Richard E. Winter Gallery & Torrey Family Gallery and online here.
For this year’s exhibition, juror Nolan Fedorow selected 28 works to be in the exhibition, including drawings, paintings, photographs, digital works and mixed media works. Fedorow states, “For me, putting together a group exhibition is about creating conversation, specifically how different works of art speak to each other while they speak to you. I hope the audience enjoys the exhibition as much as I enjoyed spending time with all of the submitted artworks.”
The exhibition, featuring work by artists living within a 100 mile radius of the Remington Museum, will be on display during the Museum’s fall season, continuing into the new year and ending on Sunday, January 15, 2023.
Many of the works on display will be for sale. One third of the proceeds benefit the Frederic Remington Art Museum, and two thirds go to the artist. The exhibit will have an online gallery at www.fredericremington.org.
The artists in the exhibition are: Ola Aldous, DeKalb Junction, NY; Carol Backus, Waddington, NY; Sharon H.J. Cheng, Potsdam, NY; Kasarian Dane, Madrid, NY; Aimee Douglass, Massena, NY; Gary Larsen, Edinburg, NY; Barry Lobdell, Saranac Lake, NY; John Morrow, Ogdensburg, NY; Sandra Nestlerode-Hale, Colton, NY; Lynne Reichhart, Rome, NY; Thomas Robarge, Ogdensburg, NY; Kristen L. Rozelle, Norwood, NY; Terry Sametz, Ottawa, ON; Virginia Gail Smith, Petawawa, ON; and Eleanor Sweeney, Saranac Lake, NY.
The juror for the exhibit was visual/performance artist and curator Nolan Fedorow. Fedorow has found some of his greatest inspiration while dining with door stoppers, guarding ice, and collecting dust. Based in the Adirondack hamlet of Wanakena, NY, he owns and operates Otto's Abode - a collaborative effort aimed at reimaging a defunct grocery store as an experimental art-centric travel agency and inconvenience store. Mr. Fedorow received a Master of Fine Arts degree in intermedia from James Madison University in 2014 and a B.A. in painting and drawing from SUNY Plattsburgh in 2010.
The next opportunity for artists to enter a juried exhibit at the Museum is in the spring, for the 2023 Members’ Juried Art Exhibit. That exhibit is open to any member of the Museum; an artist who is not yet a Museum member may join when they enter their submissions.
