Collier's Prints

These antique prints came about through a 1903 contract between Frederic Remington and Collier’s Magazine. Under this agreement Remington would create and retain original oil paintings and sell the reproduction rights to Collier’s.

For the first time the artist was paid to select his own Western subjects rather than simply illustrate the work of others.

Collier’s Magazine reproduced the images as full color centerfolds, covers, and reprints for public sale.

The public was enthralled, and every month thousands awaited each new edition as Frederic Remington consolidated his reputation as America's foremost artist of the Old West.

Remington destroyed over 100 of his paintings, and these rare Collier’s prints remain the only existing testimony of many of those lost originals.

The Frederic Remington Art Museum has come into possession of a small cache of the original and very scarce antique Collier’s prints. We now offer them mounted and framed on order according to the strictest museum grade standards established by the Williamstown Conservation Center.

Pricing and availability are subject to change as our supplies diminish. To view and/or purchase these rare Collier's prints please click here.
