Drawing with Charcoal at Remington Museum

Ogdensburg, NY — The Frederic Remington Art Museum continues its popular series of adult art classes with a charcoal drawing class taught by local artist Julie Pratt. The class will be held on Tuesday, April 17, from 10 am to noon.

This class will introduce the different varieties of charcoal and how best to use them. As she guides participants through observational drawing from a still life, Pratt will teach some basic skills of drawing such as positive and negative space, looking at relationships, contour drawing, shading, and more. After some experimentation and exploration of the medium, participants will learn the interesting technique of drawing with an eraser.

The class will be taught at the Eva Caten Remington Education Center, 323 Washington Street, Ogdensburg. All skill levels are welcome, and materials will be provided, though artists are welcome to bring their own materials if they prefer. The cost of the class is $15 for members of the Remington Museum and $25 for non-members. The class is limited to 12 participants. Call 315-393-2425 or email to ask questions or sign up, or visit to register online.
