CALL TO ARTISTS: Members' Juried Art Exhibit at Remington Museum

Night View Of Niagara In Olden Time (America Illustrated 1883 Series), Rich Fedorchak, 2011, mixed media collage, 8 x 10”. Rich Fedorchak is the juror for the upcoming Members’ Juried Art Exhibit at the Frederic Remington Art Museum.

OGDENSBURG, NY - The Frederic Remington Art Museum will hold its 2019 Members' Juried Art Exhibit May 18 – September 15, 2019.

For the 2019 Members' Juried Art Exhibit, the Museum's member artists are invited to submit up to three digital photos of their art. Open to artists everywhere, this exhibit is the Museum’s most inclusive juried art exhibit; every artist gets at least one work in the show. It is on display during the Museum’s peak tourist season, so work gets maximum exposure.

Last year’s Members’ Exhibit featured work by 50 participating artists. It was a very strong show, thanks to our wonderful member artists and our juror, Margaret Jacobs, who was also an artist-in-residence at the Remington Museum in 2018. The Museum anticipates building upon this successful tradition in 2019, with upcoming artist-in-residence Rich Fedorchak jurying this year’s exhibition.

After a 35 year career as a registered nurse working primarily in a pediatric critical care and pediatric hematology/oncology, Rich Fedorchak is now retired and devoting most of his time to his artistic pursuits, in which he has been active since the mid-1970's. Fedorchak produces work in collage and assemblage, as well as experimental cinema. His films have been screened at various juried festivals in the US and Canada including The 8Fest, the Winnipeg underground Film Festival, the Montreal Underground film festival, Experiments in Cinema in Albuquerque, NM, and the Haverhill Experimental Film Festival. His work has been shown in numerous venues in the Northeast, and recently he had a solo exhibit of his work at AVA Gallery and Art Center in Lebanon, NH. Fedorchak has been a guest lecturer and presenter in the film and media department at Dartmouth College.

The juror chooses from digital representations of up to three artworks, and also awards cash prizes for “Best in Show,” 2nd, and 3rd place. A “Public's Choice” prize, a museum wrapped canvas reproduction of Small Oaks by Frederic Remington, 1887, will be awarded based on an open vote, both at the Museum and online at www.fredericremington.org during the exhibit.

The exhibition is open to any member of the Museum. An artist who is not yet a Museum member may join when they enter their submissions. The deadline for submission of digital images, payment, and information is April 9th, and can be completed online via the online prospectus. Entries can also be submitted via email to desmond@fredericremington.org or on CD or thumb drive with an entry form and payment mailed to the Museum.

The exhibit opens with a reception on Saturday, May 18th, and will remain on view through September 15th. Works in the exhibit may be offered for sale, with one third of the price benefiting the museum. For more information, contact desmond@fredericremington.org or call (315) 393-2425.
