Ogdensburg, NY — The Frederic Remington Art Museum announces the opening of its 36th Annual Elementary Art Exhibit with a reception on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 2 – 4 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.

The reception offers a chance to meet young artists—and some of their teachers—and is a great way to celebrate art education. The exhibition includes work by elementary students from schools throughout the North Country, including: Colton-Pierrepont Central School, Gouverneur Central School, Hammond Central School, Hermon-DeKalb Central School, Heuvelton Central School, Holy Name of Jesus Academy, Immaculate Heart Elementary School, Lisbon Central School, Massena Central Schools, Morristown Central School, Ogdensburg City Schools, Parishville-Hopkinton Central School, and St. Lawrence Central School.

During the reception, the Remington Museum will be open for visitors to explore, and dedicated staff and volunteer educators will be on hand for questions and answers. The opening reception also coincides with Slow Art Day, an international art event celebrated at museums worldwide. The Remington Museum will offer programs and activities throughout the day to encourage the appreciation of art. There will be sketching in the galleries, and sessions of the Museum’s One Hour One Work program.

The Elementary Art Exhibit will be on display in the Richard E. Winter Gallery at the Frederic Remington Art Museum through May 12, 2019.

The Remington Museum would like to recognize the efforts of the teachers in developing and encouraging these young artists, and in doing the extra work it takes to participate in this annual exhibit. Thank you, art teachers!
