Donation to Remington Fund

Peter and Kathy Wyckoff and Laura FosterOGDENSBURG, NY - The Frederic Remington Art Museum would like to announce that Peter and Kathy Wyckoff of Canton, NY have placed $5,000 from their donor advised fund at the Northern New York Community Foundation into the recently established Frederic Remington Art Museum Fund at the NNYCF.

This gift marks the Wyckoffs' first contribution to the museum. "It's inspirational to see long time visitors and friends like the Wyckoffs turn into donors," said Laura A. Foster, Director of the Frederic Remington Art Museum. "It was a joy to spend time with them in our Newell Galleries, looking closely at the original art by Frederic Remington. I wanted them to feel great about their choice to provide such substantial and lasting support to the museum. I hope they enjoyed the experience as much as I did," states Ms. Foster.

The Frederic Remington Art Museum Fund at the Northern New York Community Foundation is an important part of the museum's strategy to foster long term financial stability. Begun in 2014 with the original gift of $5,000 from Mary G. Colton, the fund quickly doubled with a generous additional gift of $5,000 from T. Urling and Mabel B. Walker. The museum's own Long Term Investment Fund is managed by the Frederic Remington Art Museum Foundation and currently holds about $1,175,000. The Northern New York Community Foundation's Frederic Remington Art Museum Fund has a long way to approach that figure, but we're hoping to build both of these vital sources of dependable, long-term income. The inspiration and generosity of donors like the Wyckoffs go a long way to making big things happen over time.

Others have also generously given to build the fund. As an endowment, the principle is untouched, and the museum will receive 4% in perpetuity. The Wyckoff's addition makes a big difference in the growth of this fund, and therefore it's annual support to the museum. We hope that Pete and Kathy's generous choice will inspire others to contribute to the Northern New York Community Foundation's Frederic Remington Art Museum Fund. For those who have a donor advised fund at the foundation, donating to the fund is as simple as making a request to the foundation. Gifts from outside the NNYCF to the Frederic Remington Art Museum Fund help both the foundation and the museum.
